1981 DeLorean DMC 12 Poster

The DeLorean DMC - 12 was the brain child of John DeLorean and DeLorean Motor Company. The car was manufactures from 1981-1983. Due to the vehicle being manufactured over two model years I have not included a manufacturer year in the title tag. The only way to identify the make year is decoding the vin number. There were a total of 9,000 DMC-12 manufactured and it is estimated that less than 6,500 have survived.


The car itself was believed to be made out of stainless steel, although it does have stainless steel brushed panels those panels are attached to a fiberglass body and the panels are laid over the fiberglass. The brushed stainless panels were shipped from the factory unpainted. The vehicle also features the gull wing doors. Gull wing doors open like the hatch of a minivan but go up to a position over the roof. The DeLorean has the basic style of the 1980s Lotus Espirit.
