The American gasoline company, also known as Amoco, was an American oil company that was founded in 1889 as Standard Oil of Indiana. It was one of the companies formed from the breakup of Standard Oil in 1911.
The company grew rapidly, and by the 1920s, it was one of the largest oil companies in the world. In 1922, it introduced a new gasoline brand called "American Gasoline," which eventually became its primary brand name.
During World War II, Amoco played a significant role in the war effort by producing fuel for the military. After the war, Amoco continued to expand and invest in new technologies, including the development of chemical products and the construction of refineries around the world.
