Flying A was a brand of gasoline that was produced by Tidewater Petroleum, which was a US-based oil and gas company that was founded in 1915. The company was headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and it operated a network of gas stations throughout the western United States.

The Flying A brand of gasoline was introduced by Tidewater Petroleum in the early 1930s, and it quickly became one of the company's most popular products. The name "Flying A" was chosen to evoke a sense of speed and adventure, and it featured a distinctive logo that depicted a winged letter "A."

During the 1930s and 1940s, Tidewater Petroleum sponsored a number of aviation-related events and activities, including airshows and cross-country races. The company also provided fuel for many pioneering aviators, including Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart.
