Artist's Description
This is an image of Great falls waterfall from Rockingham NC. This specific image was taken from the cotton mill ruins side of the property. The ruins and waterfalls have been blocked off, on this side, to foot traffic.
The Great falls waterfall in Rockingham Co is located on Little Carr Creek behind Great falls mill. It was a natural waterfall that had a dam built around it to power the cotton textile mill there. The mill was originally built in 1833, burnt down by Sherman during the civil war, rebuilt in 1869, and then burned again in 1972. The ruins of the mill remain and are in front of the waterfall.
