This digital oil painting is based on an image of a Mourning dove (Zenaida macroura) with her two squabs that I had captured in Parkersburg, WV. The morning Dove chicks are almost grown enough to leave the nest. The Mouring Dove is also known as a Carolina Turtledove or Carolina Pigeon.
In this work the Mourning dove had made its nest in the head space of an old and abandoned building that was being considered for Historical landmark status in Parkersburg.
