Description
This is a B&W image of a pelican on a pole. Every photographer who captures images of birds desire to capture a pelican on a pole fishing in bracken water. I was lucky enough to capture one. This image was taken in Texas.
This is an image that every photographer that captures birds has in their bucket list. It is a classic image. Pelicans look very interesting when they fly but capturing one on a wharf or mooring pole really is one of those shots that is often seen but not usually captured. This specific image was captured while driving from Surfside beach in Texas to Galveston. There is only one thing that can be said about an image like this, when you see it you have to capture it. Finding this bird was a welcome break from the scenery that I was seeing, mostly open spaces and large farms
At any rate this pelican image was styled in black and white to highlight the details in its feathers. The image is also featured in our birds gallery in color. Pelicans are peculiar birds who are truly so big one has to wonder how they are even able to fly. What is even more interesting is watching a group of them flying. While no one has ever seen a real teredactyl in flight but I would have to image that it resembles a group of pelicans in flight. The truly are odd and peculiar birds.
Pelicans can be found on almost any mid Atlantic coastline, the gulf coast and the mid to lower pacific coastline in the US, Africa, Australia and the Middle Eastern countries specifically around large seas and bodies of water. Pelicans prefer areas with bracken or salt water. I have seen them significantly inland but this is rather rare.
