Description
This is a digital Oil painting of from the top of Pikes Peak looking down toward Colorado Springs. This work illustrates the storm upon my visit. Believe it or not although it looks like a seascape from the top of some mountains it actually is the top of the clouds. Colorado is an amazing place, the skies are a blue unlike any blue I had ever seen before. The storm including the upper storm was really interesting, on pikes peak it was actually snowing in august but the area below, in Colorado Springs the temperature was near 100 degrees.
I enjoyed my time up there, minus the cold and the wind; the scenery appeared to go on for miles. The clouds formed blue waves that almost appeared like ocean waves. It was a sea of dark blue clouds. Through the breaks in the clouds you could see for what seemed like forever. I can totally understand how Katherine Lee Bates would be inspired to write America the Beautiful from its Summit.
For those who dont know the Summit of Pikes Peak is 14,110 feet above sea level. Pikes peak is on of the 53 peaks in Colorado over 14,000 feet above sea level. It is not the tallest peak in the state of Colorado but is it one of the most historical.
For those who have never been to Pikes Peak and love awesome views and awesome landscapes, pikes peak and the trek to pikes peak provide a wide variety of looks landscapes and nature to view. The summit of pikes peak can be accessed by road (the Pikes Peak toll road or by the Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway. If your very daring and fit enough to handle the altitude you can hike up to the mountains summit. Any way you decide to travel it is well worth the trip.
