Puritan Oil and Gas Company was an American oil and gas company that was founded in 1920 and was headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. The company was originally formed as a holding company for various oil and gas properties and operations.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Puritan Oil and Gas Company expanded rapidly, acquiring oil and gas fields in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and other states. The company also established pipelines and storage facilities to transport and store its products.
During World War II, Puritan Oil and Gas Company played an important role in the war effort, supplying fuel to the military and contributing to the construction of the Alaska Highway, which connected Alaska to the continental United States.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Puritan Oil and Gas Company continued to expand its operations and became involved in the exploration and production of natural gas. The company was also involved in offshore drilling and established operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
In the 1970s, Puritan Oil and Gas Company began to face financial difficulties, as the oil and gas industry was hit by a series of downturns. The company was acquired by Pennzoil Company in 1984, and its operations were merged with Pennzoil's existing oil and gas businesses.
Today, Puritan Oil and Gas Company no longer exists as an independent entity, but its legacy lives on through its contributions to the oil and gas industry and its role in the development of energy resources in the United States.
