Artist's Description

This waterfall scene was the actual scene from a waterfall in Pisgah National Forest, including the skull appearance in the falls. The macabre image was generated by high water flow over the rocks and not just part of fantasy imagination of a place. This is just one of the many scenes you may see in North Carolina while hiking and exploring waterfalls.


I have been asked several times if I intended to capture this in the waterfall the honest answer is no. The truth be told the skull formation in the water flow was nothing more than being in the right time at the right place. The digital oil painting is based on an image I captured while being at Pisgah National Forest. The original image is also featured on Fine Arts America in our waterfalls gallery. Another fact is this image was one of a series that I had captured that day using a long exposure and I did not realize I had captured it until many hours later when I was reviewing the series and preparing to post the image...
