Appearance: Black vultures (Coragyps atratus) are medium-sized birds with a wingspan of about 4.5 to 5.5 feet (1.4 to 1.7 meters) and a length of 24 to 27 inches (61 to 69 centimeters). They have black feathers and a short, thick bill.
Distribution: Black vultures are native to the Americas. They are primarily found in the southeastern and central regions of the United States, as well as in parts of Mexico, Central America, and South America. Their range overlaps with that of turkey vultures, but they tend to be more common in areas with a warmer climate.
