This is an image of a Yellow bellied Slider (Trachemys scripta) sunning itself on a log with his reflection in the water. These turtles can be found in the southeast US and are very popular as pets. Their typical range is southern Virginia to Florida. They typically inhabit ponds, marshes, swamps, and slow moving water. There are several turtles that look very similar but the shell color and underbelly color give it away.
