Description
This is a vintage rexall Drug store sign.
Rexall Drug Stores was a chain of drug stores that operated in the United States and Canada from the early 1900s to the 1980s. The chain was known for its high-quality products and innovative marketing campaigns.
The first Rexall store was opened in 1903 in Boston, Massachusetts by Louis Liggett, who had previously worked for drugstore chain Cutler Bros. Liggett believed that by manufacturing his own products and selling them under the Rexall brand name, he could offer customers a superior product at a lower price.
The Rexall brand became known for its high-quality products, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and personal care items. The company also developed a number of innovative marketing campaigns, such as its "One Cent Sale" promotions, which offered customers the chance to buy one item at full price and get a second item for just one cent.
By the 1930s, Rexall had become one of the largest drug store chains in the United States, with over 10,000 stores in operation. The company also had a significant presence in Canada, where it was known as Rexall Drug Stores Canada.
In the 1950s and 1960s, the rise of discount stores and the decline of downtown shopping districts began to take a toll on Rexall's business. The company was acquired by the conglomerate Dart Industries in 1977, and many of its stores were converted to other brands.
Today, the Rexall brand name is owned by McKesson Corporation, a pharmaceuticals distribution company, and is used for a chain of drug stores in Canada. The chain operates over 400 stores across the country and continues to offer a wide range of high-quality health and wellness products to its customers.
